Common Characteristics of our Most Successful Franchisees
By Monique Sharland
Franchising is just a way of doing business successfully. It is not a script for success. What our successful franchisees have in common are that they are highly engaged and participate with passion in the franchise. They are so deeply connected to the franchise that they rightly view themselves as partners, actively taking ownership for the success of the franchise.
The Franchise is Top of Mind
Successful franchisees support and inspire other franchisees, freely contribute suggestions for improvement and generally ensure that the highest franchise standards and consistency in output are adhered to – including memorable and talk-worthy client experiences. Finally, they consistently deliver financial results which contribute to the franchise’s overall profitability.
They Are Engaged, Not Just Satisfied
If franchisees are satisfied, the normal conclusion is that they are engaged.
This is not necessarily true.
The more appropriate definition of engagement is one of a franchisee who feels a sense of responsibility to the success of the organization; they support the vision, are paying attention, and are fully participating in the organization’s programs and activities. And finally, successful franchisees will feel engaged like they are partners in the organization, not just clients.
They Follow Rules and Guidelines
Franchising is not an independent enterprise. Franchise agreements require you to follow a specific set of business practices, adherence to time-tested systems, and a willingness to follow directions.
However, successful franchisees know that the Franchisor’s support systems should be protecting and enhancing the brand and assisting the franchisee in being successful, so they are proactive in providing the Franchisor with suggestions for improvements.
They Share the Franchisor’s Vision
Vision might sound like business jargon, but successful franchisees recognize and embrace the values and vision of the franchisor and take ownership of it.
