Profile:
Monique is an accountant, small business tax law expert and franchising specialist, and the founder and CEO of Business Accounting Network (BAN), the first unique accounting franchise operation in South Africa.
After living in KZN for a short while, Monique returned to Johannesburg where she commenced her accounting career in January 1983. She subsequently relocated back to her home town, Cape Town, and joined a large audit and accounting firm, now one of the top 5 in South Africa. As senior manager in the SME business services department of this firm for 13 years, Monique was responsible for technical training including tax and VAT lectures for articled audit and accounting clerks…. and so knows her stuff!
Over the years Monique saw the need for small and medium sized business’ requiring professional expertise at affordable rates. In turn, she also recognised that the registered accounting and audit firms could no longer attract, retain and advance highly experienced bookkeeping and accounting staff without the costs becoming unaffordable for small and medium sized business clients.
Monique incorporated the concept of Business Accounting Network in 1999, and franchised the concept on 1 March 2000.
She has grown the BAN franchise of licensed independent contractors (or Franchisees) in the Western Cape, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Free State and Durban to what it is today.
